Last week we headed out to the streets of Bryncoch to spread the word about our upcoming event.
Armed with leaflets, good spirits and one very important new volunteer, we made sure local residents knew what's coming up in the Community Centre on Saturday the 6th of June.
It would have been easy to just post about it online and leave it at that. But there's something irreplaceable about getting out in person, meeting people where they are, and doing things face-to-face.
For an organisation like VoNCon, which is dedicated to tackling adult loneliness, that's the whole point!
The new volunteer? One of our trusty canine companions - Molly - who approached the leafleting mission with her own distinct strategy; namely, sniffing every gate with the focus of a seasoned investigator and then lying down for twenty minutes to contemplate on what she'd found.
She didn't deliver a single leaflet. A true professional in her own field, although perhaps not ours - yet, anyway!
If you're new to VoNCon, welcome - we're so glad you found us.
Our mission is simple: to bring people together and help tackle the adult loneliness that affects so many people in our communities, often quietly and invisibly. Our events are relaxed, friendly, and open to everyone. There's no pressure, no agenda - just good company and a genuine welcome at the door.
So, a big thank you to everyone who took a leaflet or had a quick chat with us in your garden. We appreciate you letting us get our event out there. And if you noticed one of our leaflets through your door, we hope you'll come along and see what we're all about.
Whether you've been to one of our events before or you're thinking about coming along for the first time, we'd love to see you this Saturday. And if you know someone who might benefit from an evening out and a friendly face - a neighbour, a friend, a family member - please do share this with them. Sometimes all it takes is someone passing on the word.
Our relaunch event is this Saturday, the 6th of June, in Bryncoch Community Centre.
We will be welcoming people between 4.30 and 8.30 pm and it promises to be a great afternoon.
You can find out more on our events page and read more about what we do on our blog.
We hope to see you there!
